Meeting the Needs of Those Who are in Need
Honduras, Central America – August 2008
As we passed by the starving dog, our hearts began to hurt. Somehow, the dog was a symbol of our surroundings. Some people were starving physically. Many were starving spiritually. We delivered a bag of dry beans, a bag of rice, and a large tube of lard to cook with. The look on the face of the elderly woman as she reached through the fence to grasp the welcomed food somehow made the pain of the rocky path and the retched humidity disappear. Her eyes and her smile said it all; we did not have to understand Spanish to understand “thank you”. We delivered food, but Melissa and I are going to serve as full-time missionaries to deliver the bread of life, the Gospel, the love of Jesus, the Son of the Most High God. Yes the video quality is sketchy, and it might give you motion sickness; but through this, I hope you can see why God has drawn us away from our comforts, and into the far off places. It is because He first loved us that we desire to spread His love and grace wherever He would have us go.
