You Are Here: 1 John 2:2 – “He [Jesus] is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world.”
Jesus died on a cross as a sacrifice for our sins so that we could be forgiven and be reconciled to God.(John 3:16-17) To be reconciled to God means that we are brought back into a relationship with God, our creator. You see, our sin separated us from God; our relationship with Him is broken because of our sin.(Isaiah 59:2) So, if it’s broken, it needs to be fixed, right? But, no matter how hard we try, we cannot correct our relationship with God on our own. We cannot do anything to deserve everlasting life in Heaven because our sins makes us deserve hell.(Romans 3:23, Romans 6:23)
But God, in all of His love and grace and mercy, sent Jesus to die for us as a sacrifice for our sins, washing them all away. “For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ.”(2 Corinthians 5:21) And now, with our sins paid for, we have forgiveness and eternal life through Jesus when we accept Him as our Savior and make Him the Lord of our lives.
The design of the shirt “You Are Here” is to remind us all that Jesus died for us as our atoning sacrifice so that we can be reconciled to God. The crown of thorns represents the pain and death that Jesus suffered for us. The “you are here” text pinpoints that our sins put Him on the cross. As it says in 1 Peter 3:18, Jesus (who is righteous) died for the sins of all of us in this world (the unrighteous) so that we may be brought to God. Death was meant for us. But God, in His infinite love and mercy, gave His son to die for us, in our place, so that we may have eternal life with Him in Heaven.
Jesus was arrested for us, He was beaten and spit on for us, He was mocked for us, He was whipped to near death for us, He had a crown of thorns smashed into His head for us, through His hands and His feet He was nailed to a wooden cross for us, He took His last breath and died on that cross for us . . . BUT PRAISE GOD HE WAS RAISED FROM THE DEAD, AND HE IS WITH GOD TODAY IN HEAVEN!!!! (1 Corinthians 15:3-4)
