The New Hope: 1 Peter 1:3-4 – “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade—kept in heaven for you.”
Hope in what? Hope in your job, in your grades, in your friends and family? Hope in your boyfriend or girlfriend, hope in your skills and abilities? By no means! HOPE in Jesus, in His Word, in God’s promise that we will rise with Jesus to an eternity in Heaven. Hope and faith that death in this life means being in the presence of Almighty God in Heaven.
In Acts 23:6, Paul says that it is because of his hope in the resurrection of the dead that he has been put on trial. The resurrection of our Savior, the truth that Jesus conquered death sets Christianity apart from every other religion. Hebrews 11:1, “Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.” No longer place your hope, your trust, your life in the things of this world that will crumble and fall apart. Place your hope in Jesus who died for you and who will return to bring you home to Heaven.
Go read 2 Thessalonians 2:16-17 and Titus 1:1-3. Do a word search on “hope” in the Bible, Old and New Testament. Praise God for the hope we have in Him, to spend eternity praising God in Heaven.
