I Am Recycled: Colossians 3:1 – “Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God.”
What’s that, we’ve been raised with Christ? Ok, this idea about being recycled is not hinting toward reincarnation. Instead, it is the truth that once we confess our sins and accept Jesus Christ as our savior, we are forgiven of our sins, purified of our unrighteousness, and made new in the eyes of God. We are different; we are no longer the same person we were before. We should act different, be different, think different, talk different; everything is going to change. Our motives should change, what we treasure should change. Go with the flow of God and allow Him to flip your world on it’s head.
2 Corinthians 5:14-19 – “For Christ’s love compels us, because we are convinced that one died for all, and therefore all died. And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again. So from now on we regard no one from a worldly point of view. Though we once regarded Christ in this way, we do so no longer. Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come! All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting men’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation.”
Ephesians 2:4-5 – “But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved.”
In the same way that a tub of newspaper can be chewed up and cleaned at a recycling plant and processed into new paper materials used for whatever may be necessary, we have been made new in Jesus. God has removed all of our dirt and made us clean and new, ready to be used by Him in our new life with Christ.
